We achieve this position both by assisting customers with the solutions we present to them and by complying with their specific requirements and helping they become even more competitive than others.

The next step: Environment, Ethics and Social Responsibility |

After having worked with our internal processes, we are now also ready to explicitly formulate the basis for SMD’s relationship with the outside world. Initially, we will specify the Company’s policies for the environment, ethics and social responsibility. The purpose is to state clearly what its employees and the outside world can expect from SMD. Initially, this work will be a project in the top management team, who will determine the entire process. Where relevant, we will define specific quantitative measures linked to the operations of the Company.

SMD’s reason for existing, our growth and our earnings all depend on our ability to generate solutions that create competitive advantages for customers in employing our competencies and technologies. We clearly manifested this in our product family. Specifically, we established a unit for each market where SMD operates. These Market Units function as an interface between our customers and SMD’s entire technological platform. We have organized the platform into Product Units that handle technology and product development, quality assurance, manufacturing, sourcing and supply chain management.
Previously, the technical units targeted one business area only. Now we actively use all of our competencies for the benefit of all our customers, and solutions from one area can more easily be used in another. This means we can offer better and more innovative solutions to the high-voltage power management markets.
Furthermore, it is easier for us to make a focused effort to enter new markets without having to shift attention away from existing ones. We did just this in Q3 of 2006, with our entry into the AC/DC micro device industry. Common to all our business areas is that end products are continually growing smaller while also gaining functionality and that our miniature solution create competitive for our customers and thus business for SMD. |
